Günseli Yalçınkaya

Biography
Günseli Yalçınkaya (b. 1995) is a British-Turkish writer, researcher, and artist based in London. Her ongoing practice of internet folklore explores how technology shapes myth, tracing how emerging technologies, from AI to quantum computing, give rise to new ideologies, digital superstitions, and collective fantasies. A writer-in-residence at Somerset House Studios and a 2026 Weibel Institute Fellow, she has contributed to publications including ArtReview, CURA., Dazed, Spike Art Magazine, and 032c, as well as to institutions such as Ars Electronica, LAS Art Foundation, and HEK in Basel. She is also a member of the multidisciplinary audiovisual project The Talk, collaborating with musician Heith and architect Andrea Belosi to transform research into live performance.

Residency project
At La Becque, Günseli Yalçınkaya will extend her research into internet folklore, exploring the myths embedded within online culture and contemporary technologies to interrogate the tension between cultural hybridity and collapsing global narratives in an era of AI slop, consensus (un)reality, and psy-op realism. Drawing on countercultural movements, interspecies narratives, and quantum theory, she will develop a series of short stories and essays connecting digital culture with pre-modern forms of communication, offering alternatives to Western narratives of modern science and reason. The works developed during the residency will be performed on-site in collaboration with musicians, drawing on folkloric values of communality and collaboration.
