Pat Thomas

In October 2026, La Becque welcomed British pianist and composer Pat Thomas for a short residency in collaboration with Geneva-based association Konnekt. During his stay, Thomas worked on a series of recordings with Konnekt’s Thomas Florin and Nicolas Field, before taking part in a conversation with La Becque’s residents about his career and artistic practice. On October 2, the residency culminated in a public concert at Temple Saint-Théodule in La Tour-de-Peilz, where Thomas performed solo before joining Florin and Field for a trio performance.

The project continued the collaboration between La Becque and Konnekt and their exploration of the Afro-Caribbean continuum of British improvised music, following previous events featuring Keiji Haino and Elaine Mitchener.

A major figure in British improvised music, Thomas has developed a singular musical language over more than three decades, moving freely between jazz, free improvisation, electronic music, jungle, funk, and contemporary composition. Equally at home on piano and electronics, his practice combines a deep engagement with musical history and a constant drive towards experimentation, through solo performances, diverse collaborations, and his work with the quartet أحمد [ahmed].
