For the 2026 edition of the Biennale Images Vevey, La Becque will host two projects and present a third in collaboration, at the Théâtre Oriental-Vevey.

 

With Poster Child, Charlie Engman revisits his photos using artificial intelligence to compose strange domestic scenes. Following an initial residency in partnership with ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne in 2025, Engman returns to La Becque in September 2026. In his practice, he subverts the family photo genre, examining the family circle as a structure through which society imagines its future. Engman transforms his apartment into a creative laboratory and a curious family home. The English idiom “poster child” designates a model child or an archetypal figure whose image is widely disseminated.

 

Cyanotypes 16 – 22 brings female emancipation and photography into dialogue through the relationship between a mother and her daughter. Ruth Erdt and her daughter Eva Vuillemin presents photographs taken by each of them between the ages of 16 and 22. The artists delve into their archives in search of self-portraits with formal similarities, which they develop using the cyanotype process. This historic technique erases both the age and the technological gap, while allowing them to reclaim their own likeness. The project stands as a testament to the enduring bonds shared between women of the same family.

 

Also a former resident at La Becque in fall 2025, as part of a residency initiated by Images Vevey and made possible with the support of Nestlé, Carlos Amorales is part of the Biennale with his project Todos Somos Amorales. In 1996, the artist developed a multidisciplinary body of work combining photography, video, and performance, in which he developed his alter ego, inspired by Mexican lucha libre. He revisited his original Los Amorales slides and created an autobiographical film using artificial intelligence. As both an artist and a father, Amorales presents a manifesto with Todos Somos Amorales: a blend of analog nostalgia, glimpses of family life, and a critique of technology.

La Becque invites you to the artists’ residency for an afternoon of discoveries and encounters.

 

Throughout the afternoon, visitors are invited to move freely between studios, installations, presentations, and performances, discovering the wide range of artistic practices currently being developed at La Becque. Conceived as a moment of openness and exchange, the Open Studios offer an opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions, and gain insight into the different stages of their creative processes.

 

A program of presentations and performances will take place throughout the afternoon, alongside installations on view continuously across the residency.
