At La Becque, I have been developing my project MAJNÛN in two forms: a solo piece scheduled for November 2026 at Arsenic – Centre d’art scénique contemporain in Lausanne and a group choreographic opera. The residency gave me the time and space to write poems and texts, advance the choreographic development, and deepen my artistic research.
This period was unique and transformative, shifting my perspective on the creative process. While I often work under pressure and in challenging environments, La Becque’s framework allowed me to explore new ways of working—through meditation, close engagement with nature, and a calm, focused atmosphere. I was also able to invite my collaborators, Pablo Altar and Sacha Gabilan, each for a week, which greatly enriched my research process.
I also expanded my network in Switzerland, connecting with other resident artists. I appreciated the group dynamic and the singularity of each artist’s work, which nourished both my creative practice and my understanding of what it means to be an artist in dialogue with their environment. — Sorour Darabi
