Our residency at La Becque took place in September 2024, as part of the Biennale Images Vevey. During that time, we had the opportunity to exhibit our collaborative project “One Bed, Two Blankets, Seventy-Six Rules” and develop a new chapter of the work.
We started “One Bed, Two Blankets, Seventy-Six Rules” one year ago and it is our first collaboration as artists. After meeting each other in Ticino and living in a long-distance relationship, we decided to move in together in 2023. The project deals with the sometimes unexpected new realities of living together as a couple. At the same time, we established rules of how life together can become more harmonious.
The exhibition at La Becque was a house in construction. It had no windows, empty walls, and no roof. During our residency, we built new walls, took new photographs, printed them out, changed and extended the exhibition continuously. The house was a symbol of change that step by step transformed into a home: Like our relationship, which is in continuous adaptation and development. — Sabine Hess & Nicolas Polli
Thanks to the support of Nestlé, Images Vevey, in collaboration with La Becque and Verzasca Foto Festival, offered Hess and Polli the opportunity to continue and develop their current project. The artists were present on a daily basis to welcome the public and present the evolution of their project during the 2024 edition of the Biennale Images Vevey.
