Biography
Laureate of the Nestlé Young Art Prize 2025, Guillaume Ehinger (lives and works in Vevey) develops a practice at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. His work explores the tensions between abstraction and figuration, between the appropriation of a subject and memory. Drawing from scenes of everyday life, he creates layered works that question the status of the image, its contemporary consumption, and its place within art history. Oscillating between appearance and disappearance, his works bring together different temporalities — material in transformation, the moving gaze, invoked memories — producing a liminal space in which the presence of the living persists. In the face of a saturation of polished images, he affirms the fragility of the gaze and the resistance of matter.
