Fabien Cappello

Biography
Fabien Cappello (b. 1984) is a French furniture and product designer based in Guadalajara, Mexico. Through his studio, he develops objects and environments that draw on vernacular material cultures, local manufacturing processes, and often-overlooked materials to create durable and culturally situated forms. His projects include permanent and temporary interventions for institutions such as Museo de Arte de Zapopan in Guadalajara, LagoAlgo in Mexico City, and the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles, as well as collaborations with international brands and cultural organisations. Cappello is also the founder of Objetos de Hojalata para el Hogar, a collection of everyday objects produced with traditional metal workshops in Guadalajara. Alongside his design practice, he develops research on Mexican material culture and has led workshops at institutions including Cranbrook Academy of Art and the University of California, Berkeley. His work is held in the collections of SFMOMA in San Francisco, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and the CNAP in France.
