Manuel Troller (CH, 1986)
Residency period: October 2025
Basel-based guitarist and composer Manuel Troller develops a singular practice at the intersection of experimental music, improvisation, and expanded guitar techniques. Known for his highly physical and exploratory approach to sound, Troller’s work moves fluidly between solo performances and collaborative contexts, often engaging with repetition, texture, and subtle shifts in timbre.
During his week-long residency at La Becque, Manuel Troller pursued new musical explorations that fed directly into a series of performances presented shortly afterwards in Vevey, as part of a four-night concert residency at Théâtre de l’Oriental, organized with Live in Vevey. His stay at La Becque provided time and space to refine ideas developed for both solo and trio formats, some of which resonated through these subsequent concerts alongside accordionist Tizia Zimmermann and percussionist Tony Buck (The Necks). This residency also marked La Becque’s first direct collaboration with Live in Vevey, extending the dialogue between research, creation, and public performance beyond the residency itself.
