IOM BLANCHE12, #2/3
Carte blanche to Stephen O’Malley at cave12 in Geneva
03.11.2021
The Geneva-based association cave12, dedicated for more than 30 years to the diffusion of experimental music, has invited Stephen O’Malley, resident of our 2021 Principal Residency Program, for a sort of curatorial carte blanche series of three parts called IOM BLANCHE12. A member, among others, of the cult Sunn O))), O’Malley, at the head of his absolutely fascinating label, Ideologic Organ (an offshoot of the no less essential Editions Mego label), has been regaling us for years with (re)discoveries and/or obscure and often magnificent/magnetic archives of the international underground_sonoric_quest.
These evenings are dedicated to the immense Peter Rehberg who suddenly left us this summer. The second part of this carte blanche proposed two solo acts with a strongly organic/original and unique immersion power, as follows:
FUJI|||||||||||TA (JAPAN)
Home Built Organ solo
33-33.co/representation/yosuke-fujita
Japan-based sound artist FUJI|||||||||||TA (real name Yosuke Fujita) creates a unique musical universe from a portable (and highly fragile/delicate) self-built organ to which he adds his declamatory/singing voice processed by various effects and sometimes water/aquatic sounds from synthetically processed containers/aquariums.
The result is a deeply unique sound universe, between powerful meditative flights and totally bewitching organic sub-sonic developments. A strong, beautiful and magnetic work, both sonically and visually.
Rare, and in the genre, absolutely recommended, for someone who can boast of having had the chance to collaborate, among others, with members of the Boredeoms, that oh so cult Japanese band.
KASSEL JAEGER (FRANCE)
Electroacoustic device
kasseljaeger.com
French-Swiss composer and electroacoustic musician based in Paris, KASSEL JAEGER (real name François J. Bonnet) delivers sound tracks with a complex balance between concrete experiments, ambient noise and electroacoustic explorations. A work captivating and with the dense and ample sound richness for a result/auditory pleasure including key albums praised by the specialized press on labels such as Editions MEGO, Shelter Press, Black Truffle, Senufo Editions, etc…
Director of the INA GRM (yes!), KASSEL JAEGER also collaborates regularly with great names of the current international exploratory music scene such as Oren Ambarchi, Giuseppe Ielasi, Stephan Mathieu, Stephen O’Malley, Jim O’Rourke, Akira Rabelais, James Rushford, etc, etc…
An important actor_musician of the current adventurous electroacoustic scene, also recommended for an exciting and high quality listening Wednesday !
