Concert NZIRIA
In July 2026, La Becque welcomed Italian artist NZIRIA for a short residency as part of a new research project exploring archives as living, embodied, and relational forms of transmission. During their stay, NZIRIA worked on a series of recordings with La Becque’s residents in the sound studio, before presenting a public concert on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Developed by La Becque curator Vanessa Cimorelli, the project explores how histories and cultural traditions are transmitted beyond institutional archives, through bodies, voices, music, rituals, and collective practices. Rooted in the cultural landscapes of Southern Italy, its inaugural edition was developed in collaboration with NZIRIA, alongside Dario Biancullo and Jupi of Naples-based collective KORYBASS.
NZIRIA’s concert formed part of a two-day public programme bringing together music, film, discussion, participatory practices, and personal archives, with a particular focus on the traditions and forms of sociability surrounding the femminielli, a longstanding non-binary figure in Neapolitan culture.
