ARTO LINDSAY + CHIEN MON AMI + KOMET CITY
Concert at the RKC
On April 28 2022, in partnership with ECAL/University of Art Lausanne, the Rocking Chair and La Becque presented Arto Lindsay (US) + Chien mon ami (CH) + Komet City (CH).
Brazilian-born American musician Arto Lindsay has been at the intersection of music and art for over four decades. As a member of DNA, he helped found No Wave in the late 1970s in New York. He went on to develop a highly subversive pop music, a mixture of American and Brazilian styles, notably with Ambitious Lovers. This major figure of the musical avant-garde of the last 30 years has collaborated with David Byrne, Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno… His immediately recognisable style combines soft vocals with deliberately raw guitar playing, covering a wide spectrum: from his brasilio-pop roots to hardcore, funk or RnB sounds.
The Chaux-de-Fonds duo Chien Mon Ami presenting their first album from the series “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” (BlauBau Records) and floating between extreme sobriety and deep alcohol, Olympian calm and tectonic violence, Komet City opened the evening.
Arto Lindsay also presented a sound installation (world premiere, an electroacoustic parade of the Bahia carnival) which opened on May 4 2022 at ECAL.
