Coby Sey & Continue + Natural Information Society
30.10.2025
The Rocking Chair in Vevey (RKC) and La Becque teamed up to celebrate immersive and powerful music with two key acts from the post-rock, jazz, and electronic scenes: Coby Sey and Natural Information Society, who performed in trio and quartet formations for this special occasion.
A major figure of the British underground, Coby Sey crafted bold, post-genre soundscapes blending hip-hop, grime, noise, jazz, and dub. Both intimate and political, his music blurred the lines between acoustic and electronic, word and silence. A distinctive artist and frequent collaborator of Mica Levi, Tirzah, and Laurel Halo, Sey was joined on stage by Karl D’Silva and Sébastien Forrester for a live set rooted in experimentation and deep listening.
Led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Abrams, Natural Information Society brought their signature sound to Vevey, focusing on their core lineup: Abrams, Lisa Alvarado, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Jason Stein. Drawing on trance-based musical traditions (Gnaoua, Hindustani classical, spiritual jazz), their performance blended hypnotic repetition, polyrhythmic grooves, and microtonal textures into a captivating sensorial journey, accompanied by Lisa Alvarado’s vibrant paintings.
La Becque’s public program is supported by the City of La Tour-de-Peilz, Loterie Romande, the Coromandel Foundation, the Philanthropique Famille Sandoz Foundation, and Pensimo Fondsleitung AG.
