Residency period: March 2026
Quantum Ecologies is an ongoing photographic research project investigating how natural phenomena become visible through systems of observation. Developed during my Plateforme 10 residency at La Becque, in dialogue with the landscape of Lake Geneva and nearby scientific and botanical infrastructures, the project explores the idea of ecology as a network of relationships between organisms, atmospheric conditions, technological devices, and regimes of perception.
During my stay, I experimented with light-based photographic interventions in natural environments and controlled botanical contexts, using colour as a perceptual tool rather than a descriptive element. These interventions do not represent nature directly; instead, they create situations in which images emerge from the encounter between environment, light, and apparatus.
The residency allowed me to expand the project’s visual language and to connect outdoor field observations with indoor research settings, reflecting on photography as a mediator between visible and invisible processes. I also presented the work in progress during the Open Studios and through conversations with curators and researchers, strengthening the conceptual framework of the project and its future development within art–science contexts. — Claudia Fuggetti
Invited to La Becque as part of a residency with Plateforme 10 in Lausanne, Claudia Fuggetti (lives and works in Taranto) is a visual artist and photographer whose work explores the intersections of nature, technology, and contemporary notions of transformation. Through photography, digital matter, and speculative ecologies, her practice examines hybrid forms and post-natural metamorphosis as expressions of a shifting relationship between the organic and the synthetic.
