Our first residents of 2020 open their studios and sometimes their living quarters to all on March 11. Take a peek at their work process and enjoy readings and performances proposed especially for this occasion.

This is a great opportunity to get to know Ignacio Acosta, Félicia Atkinson and Bartolomé Sanson (Shelter Press), Brandon Covington Sam-Sumana, Andreas Greiner, Agustina Muñoz (Pro Helvetia/COINCIDENCIA resident), Valle Medina and Benjamin Reynolds (Pa.LaC.E), Simone C. Niquille (ECAL resident) and James Rushford, and to discuss their work as well as the projects they are developing at La Becque directly with them.

Details about the evening’s program will follow soon!

As part of our programme dedicated to Derek Jarman, which begins in the summer 2019, we invite you to a screening of the film “The Garden” (1990), preceded by a lecture by the artist Camille Dumond, who will present the first book in her series “Interview for a Film”, due for release in March. The evening will be punctuated by a screening of Ian Wooldridge’s film “Infamy Effeminacy” (1991) by the fireside in the library.

Save the date! During the long weekend of June 5 to 7, we will launch the second part of our “Modern Nature” project: initiated with curator Elise Lammer and launched in summer 2019, the program pays tribute to the life and work of British filmmaker, artist and writer Derek Jarman through artistic interventions proposed by regional as well as international artists. It revolves around a garden conceived specifically for the project as an homage to Jarman’s celebrated Prospect Cottage.

In early June 2020, a new series of artists, both Swiss and international, residents at La Becque or specifically invited for the project, will add their contributions to this garden in constant evolution, and join previous participants Adrien Chevalley, Marie Griesmar, Julie Monot, Prem Sahib, Garette Nelson, Florence Peake, and Eve Stainton in our open-ended conversation with Derek Jarman.

Stay tuned for more details!
