ISABELLA HIN (FR, 1993)

Isabella Hin is a visual artist based in Paris. Through photography, video, and various installations, she explores the elusive qualities of water and its links to the unconscious. Imbued with fluidity and dark romanticism, her works bring to life presences destined to vanish, infusing them with evocative and sensory power.
A 2017 graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she received the Agnès b. Prize, and a 2021 graduate of Le Fresnoy-Studio National, she has exhibited her work at Paris Photo, Villa Noailles, Musée La Piscine in Roubaix, and the Lille Métropole Musée d’art moderne, d’art contemporain et d’art brut, among other venues.
During her residency at La Becque, she will continue to explore the connections between athletics and artistic creation, a theme already central to her work developed for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She will expand on her current explorations of the collective and aquatic unconscious. Isabella will pursue a new immersive video installation exploring swimming as a metaphor for mental cleansing, the psychology of flow and the overwhelm of constant media. The video work uses swimming to explore the notions of fluidity and endurance, as well as the flow of media images over time, through the integration of Olympic archives.
Isabella Hin’s residency at La Becque is part of the Olympic Heritage | Artists in Residence program, organized by the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in Doha and the Olympic Museum, located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
